Will Sri Lankan government resign over protests?

Tens of thousands of Sri Lankans have taken to the streets of capital Colombo to protest against the unpopular government. 
The rally was organized and lead be the former president Mahinda Rajapaksa who lost the last elections in 2015.
The incumbent president Sirisena has been accused by opposition for corruption and bad governance that has aggravated the economic situation in Sri Lanka and increased poverty.
Among the rally leaders there is former president's son Namal Rajapaksa who is seen by many as the future leader of the country.
